Chelsea let us know before her wedding that she likes a mixture of classic photography and blurry black and white photos. We love when our couples communicate their preferences so we can be prepared to capture plenty of what they want on the wedding day!
Botanical Garden Engagement Session
Nicole and John showed up to their session and I immediately thought “wow they are beautiful people. This is going to be easy!”… funny enough the first words out of their mouths were “We are not good at taking pictures..”.
My goal throughout the session was to show them that the first thought was true and the second declaration was not.. I definitely think we succeeded!
(Be sure and scroll to the end to see how John incorporated something he loves - The Yankees!)

To my surprise, Kayla e-mailed me one evening expressing her thoughts and before we knew it she had cancelled everything and decided upon Max Patch for her wedding surrounded by only their closest friends and family. 8 Ways to Make Your Wedding Unique
Here is a few ways to make your wedding unique! Use this guide to enhance all of your personal touches!
Planning a wedding for all of the people you love most to enjoy can be daunting to say the least! It’s very easy to become overwhelmed and overlook the details that will set you apart while also preserving the traditions that we love. Here we have a few ideas to help you along with your wedding planning. We have 8 ideas for you to help make your wedding unique! Check out each of the following images from our real weddings so you can get a clearer vision of what you day could look like! Happy Wedding Planning!!
Include your favorite FOOD
We have had everything at venues from wood fire pizza ovens and pretzel bars to traditional Moldovan food with homemade cakes and pastries that are to die for! Make your wedding menu something you will enjoy and your guests will be sure to love it!
2. Rent a cool getaway car, boat, or carriage.
These moments in a cool car make those exit pictures and drone shots amazing! Plus, you’ll have a driver to take you to your destination for the night!
3. Have fireworks at the end of the night.
Everyone loves a good fireworks show, why wait until the Fourth of July? Make your evening spectacular!
4. Hire a band
We have had the privilege of working with some awesome DJ’s but if your want a more relaxing, romantic feel for your reception, you can never go wrong with a live band!
5. Include a family heirloom in your detail photos.
With family heirlooms, your wedding will be the one and only with those items. We have seen the most beautiful jewelry passed down for the wedding day. We have also seen homemade tags sown into clothing added to bouquets as a reminder of those loved ones.
6. Show off your vows in unique ways!
Think of a calligraphy mirror or framed keepsake that display your vows at your reception and then to put in your home after you are married! We love this handwritten keepsake from Brittany Ivey Designs.
7. Add a neon sign
Give your guests a photo moment with your new last name or add a statement wall behind your head table at your reception. This is where your guests will want to come and visit you and you’ll be sure to have a good background no matter where your table is set up! After all you should be the center of attention!
8. Include your pet in your day!
We have so much love for those couples that include their family pet in their day! Gimme alll the dogs (Insert heart eyes for Maverick being at his paw-rents elopement in the mountains)
We would love to hear what you did at your wedding to make your day unique!
Kristen and Taylor’s WaterStone Venue Wedding in Johnson City, TN
If there’s ever been a couple or wedding day that I have called perfect, it’s Taylor and Kristen and Taylor and Kristen’s wedding day… See why!
If there’s ever been a couple or wedding day that I have called perfect, it’s Taylor and Kristen and Taylor and Kristen’s wedding day.
Yes, the day was beautiful but more importantly the thing that makes it so special is their genuine love and kindness towards each other and the people around them. From the moment they reached out to us about their wedding we felt more like friends than hired wedding vendors. The wedding industry feels so crazy at times that you often feel like you are failing, no matter how much you work and deliver - Our experience with The Johnsons (and all of their wedding party + guests) was the opposite. I feel like they are the type of people that would invite you to Christmas and probably get you a gift even though you aren’t actually part of the family haha!
Kristen was so calm and at peace with her decision to marry Taylor, and vice versa. When they weren’t together on their wedding day, they asked about each other. When they were together, they stole glances and had fun while taking in each moment with each guest around them.
Everything about their day was done in excellence - from the peony bouquet, to the triple sparkler exit and everything in between - it was truly a day to remember!

There’s something so special about photographing growing families for our past wedding couples.. We have had the privilege of working for Maddy and Luke in so many important moments including Luke’s proposal to Maddy, a Bridal Session, Couples Shower, Engagements and then their wedding day. Most recently we met up at the Bleak House in Knoxville for their baby announcement and now we are welcoming the newest family member, Jonathan Oaklan.
This is such a sweet time for this beautiful family. Everyone is over the moon in love with this little boy, especially his big sister! Addy is already showing that she is going to be the perfect big sister to little Oaklan!

Not sure if your home would be a good spot for newborn photos? Here are a couple things to keep in mind:
Natural light is best - choose an area with lots of window light or be prepared to roll your blinds all the way up!
Homes are best for lifestyle photography - if you are specifically looking for a studio set up let us know and we can send you to an amazing local photographer that specializes in this!
Don’t stress the mess - Just enjoy this season with your growing family and we’ll move whatever we need to upon arrival!

Zach and Ashlynn’s Knoxville Engagements
We loved spending our evening with Ashlynn and Zach in downtown Knoxville! Their engagement session ended with a perfect evening on the river.
The best part of being a photographer is telling each couples story. Each couple we meet and have the privilege of working with has a unique story that we get to portray through our camera lens. It is no different with Zach and Ashlynn.
This couple moved to Knoxville, not too long ago and have embraced the “Knoxvillian Life”. Living close to the downtown life, it only seemed fitting to take their engagement pictures where their home is! It is so much fun to go to the same location as other couples and pictures look unique each time because our couples are so different!
We took some time to walk to Market Square and taste-test one of our favorite wedding vendors Proper Popcorn, danced to the live music on the square and went to the historic Oliver Hotel.
We finished the evening with an outfit change, and night on the river. It was a perfect evening! Zach and Ashlynn are so sweet! We loved our time with them in one of our favorite places.
Having trouble picking a location for your engagement pictures? We have a list of our favorites that we recommend to our couples having a hard time deciding. Reach out to us!
Abbie and Denver’s Pastel Perfection
Abby and Denver put all tradition aside and planned a wedding THEY loved! Read about all the unique details from their day.
The Aydelott’s wedding day was truly a dream. From the very beginning of the planning process, Abbie and Denver put traditions aside and planned a day full of things they love! Every detail of this day showed their personality and their love for each other.
A few things that made Abbie and Denver’s wedding day so unique. First, Abbie opted to wear a beautiful, pastel flower crown to match her bouquet rather than wearing a veil. She pared the crown with a hand made dress that she designed herself! Second, rather than a unity candle or sand, Abbie and Denver made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the shape of a heart. They even ate it right there on stage. This was such a fun part of the ceremony! Lastly, they made sure to read the vows that they wrote each other. This moment during the ceremony, all the family and friends could tell just how much Abbie and Denver love each other.
When it came time for the reception, who can go wrong with a fire pizza oven, a live band of amazing family musicians, and a candy/pretzel bar?! They literally thought of everything. Our bride and groom are not fans of cake, so instead of cutting cake, they chose to feed each other their first bite of pizza as a married couple! Live music and singing from friends and family happened all throughout the reception. Denver (the drummer) even jumped in on a few songs to complete the evening!
Overall, we absolutely loved every unique moment and detail from this day! Thank you Abbie and Denver Aydelott for allowing us to be there and share this perfect day with you! It was a beautiful day!

Tennessee’s Most Beautiful Wedding Venues
We have the privilege of living in one of the most sought-after locations for wedding venues. East Tennessee and the Smoky Mountain region have a reputation for classic venues and breath taking views! We absolutely love working and living in this area of the country. We have put together a list of some of Tennessee’s Most Beautiful Wedding Venues to help make your wedding venue dreams come true.
1. The Magnolia.
The Magnolia is a hidden gem among the venues of the Smoky Mountains. Not even the rain could take away the gorgeous backdrop of this editorial shoot at the Magnolia Venue. This venue has breath taking views from every angle, and we are love that so many of our 2022 brides have chosen this location to celebrate their wedding day. Not only is there a beautiful mountain skyline to have as the backdrop for your ceremony, but there are places to sneak away onsite so you can have a moment with just you and your new spouse.
2. Greenbrier Estate.
Jacqueline and John Michael’s wedding day at Greenbrier Estate did not disappoint. This intimate wedding venue is located at the top of a mountain ridge, giving you the perfect spot for your dream wedding. Whether we were outside on the deck with string lights and gorgeous weather or inside surrounded by the panoramic windows overlooking the mountains, Jacqueline and John Michael’s wedding day had an amazing view of mountains.
3. The Pavilion at Hunter Valley
The Pavilion at Hunter Valley is located in Knoxville, Tennessee. It’s perfect location makes you feel like your hidden deep in the country, while being just minutes from downtown Knoxville, as well as McGhee Tyson Airport, making it easy on those guests that are traveling. This family owned venue is one of Knoxville’s premier wedding venues and has been for many years now. You will not be disappointed!
4. The newly established Trillium Venue!
Although it’s not up and running yet we couldn’t leave without talking about this beautiful new venue. It already has bookings years in advance because of the prime location, stunning views, and grande building plans. It is located in Pigeon Forge, TN and is family owned and operated. The views at this location are absolutely stunning! We are thrilled to be shooting a wedding here very soon and will be posting a blog on that in the coming months. Until then, you HAVE to check out their website and Instagram! It is a prime location including mountain views, a waterfall, trails to sneak away on, and it is minutes from hotel accommodations. Perfect for a very large or small and intimate gathering!

Abby + Noah’s Wedding at the Barn at Faith Farms
This couple had a beautiful, intimate wedding at the Barn at Faith Farms. We have all the love for this venue and our couple!
We can’t say enought about the Barn at Faith Farms. We love this venue and staff so much, we would work here every weekend if we had the opportunity. From the beautiful grounds to the staff’s willingness to help and drive around in the golf cart, it’s always a great experience! Abby and Noah’s day had a rain shower which ultimately made the setting feel that much more intimate and romantic. I’m so happy we were able to go out into the field and take pictures just before the sun went down. The couple did not have a first look, and this was our opportunity to take bride and groom portraits on their wedding day—which is always an important part of the day!
Vendors on this lovely day: The Barn at Faith Farms, Lillian Ruth Bridal, Layla Joy Bakery Creations

Katie and Cory’s baby announcement was so sweet that we thought it deserved it’s own spotlight on our little corner of the internet!
